About me:

As a child in Texas, land of the Bluebonnets, my seamstress mom gave me free reign of the sewing machine and scraps pile, and with a little guidance, I began sewing clothes for my dolls. I made my own first wearable outfit when I was in the 2nd grade. I continued honing my abilities during my teens, making school clothes and lined suits for myself and eventually designing and sewing my wedding dress, as well as those of my bride’s maids. I’ve been creating things to wear, to decorate my home, or to gift for as long as I can remember.

In the 90's, I was privileged to work in an alterations shop in upstate NY where I learned tailoring from a pro. Later, I worked with a classic car restorer, and learned enough about upholstering to tackle some personal and professional projects with satisfactory results. I have also enjoyed helping my friends find solutions to their wardrobe “fit problems” or home decorating challenges through the years. I also dabble on the side with watercolor, and am pleased to make available some of my art featuring local landmarks and the flora and fauna of our area.

In 2023, I was beginning to formulate a way to combine some of my interests in a more defined way, and then the need for a tailor in International Falls came calling at my door, therefore, Bluebonnet Designs was born.

For now, my focus will be alterations, I’ll help you look and feel your best in a wedding dress, formal wear, or your favorite jeans. However, I can create custom-sewn accessories or hand-made jewelry for specific occasions. Other services can be discussed, as well.

Thanks for trusting me to help bring your ideas to life!
